Member of Parliament for Witney & West Oxfordshire
Robert became the MP for Witney and West Oxfordshire in the By-Election of October 2016 and was re-elected in the General Election in June 2017 and December 2019. Robert's priorities for West Oxfordshire:
Better roads, trains and buses
Our community needs a better transport system, from trains and buses to roads and cycling. Living in Bladon, I know first-hand that the congestion on the A40 is a daily issue for many of us, and we need reliable public transport to provide a realistic alternative.
The right homes, in the right place
I know we all agree that West Oxfordshire needs more affordable homes - to rent or buy. However, these new homes must be at the right price in the right place, and any new development must come with the extra infrastructure to support it.
High quality healthcare for all
Since being elected as your MP, healthcare has been one of my very highest priorities.
Delivering an outstanding education for every child
As a parent, I know it's important to have great local schools to choose from, and how crucial education is to every child's development. This is never truer than in today's fast-changing, high-tech world.
Helping our local shops and businesses
West Oxfordshire is a thriving area with many small businesses and I will work hard to ensure our thriving local economy continues to grow, providing even more good jobs for local people.
Supporting our Armed Forces
The armed forces are a key part of the identity of West Oxfordshire. RAF Brize Norton is the largest military air base in Europe and home to a third of the Royal Air Force, and those who live and work at the base contribute strongly to our community.
