Local MP, David Cameron has said, "Many of my constituents have written to me outlining their concerns about the future of our libraries. I know that libraries provide a hub for the community and are a much-valued local service.
"Dealing with the huge deficit we inherited is the single most important step towards recovery and growth and our councils must take their fair share of difficult decisions. I would hope that no libraries would need to close; this is a matter for the county council and I do know that they are working with our communities to find the best way forward for all our libraries.
"They have specifically said that they are looking for community solutions to keep libraries open and have established a £600,000 fund to help this to happen. I am also working at the national level to make sure there are no bureaucratic rules in the way of community solutions to this important issue."
